Tutor helping struggling child with math and science

Hello! My name is Bronwen Mosquera and I am the Center Director of The Tutoring Center of Evanston.  As a teacher for 10+ years, I saw the daily successes and struggles of my students, however, I never felt as if I had enough hours in the day to help my students continue on their path of success or to help those students who needed additional support. I felt like I had so much to offer but that I was an innocent bystander watching my students lose confidence and excitement. With so much emphasis on testing and implementing new initiatives, the actual aspect of teaching was dwindling.

When I would dream about the perfect classroom scenario to reach my students, it always contained one-to-one instruction, meeting the children at their current academic level, and offering individualized material to meet their needs. It just so happens that The Tutoring Center was my dream come to life! I am so excited to be a part of this wonderful company that puts our students first. We not only support our students academically, but our system also emphasizes the importance of character building and hard work. Our students are happy to work in a safe and fun environment where they are not competing with classmates or siblings. It has been so exciting to see each child’s personality shine as they work with our talented staff! My daughter attends weekly sessions and I have seen her grow so much already.

When I am not at The Tutoring Center, I am either spending time with my daughter, Avery, my son, Jack, and my husband, Edward. We enjoy being outside, visiting museums, seeing movies, and playing games. I also run a photography business with a friend of mine in which we specialize in family and newborn photography. I consider myself incredibly lucky to have two businesses that have become my passions, as well as a lovely family that is so supportive.

Our classrooms feature an intense learning environment that combines “The Rotational Approach to Learning” and One-To-One Instruction. Both methods were developed by Edward S.Thalheimer, Ph.D., founder of THE TUTORING CENTER. Our innovative system gives your child far more One-to-One Instruction than he or she will ever receive in a classroom full of children, or even in a small group.

You have many choices available for your child, and we want you to make the choice that's in your child's best interest. For instance, many schools provide after-school tutoring or intervention programs for students who are having difficulty in school, and maybe your child has been offered one in the past. Even though these programs are free to families, current research indicates that these programs are inefficient and time-consuming. Since they focus mostly on completing your child's homework, they can not offer you a permanent solution. While school-based tutoring may provide your child with short-term homework help, THE TUTORING CENTER's intense One-to-One Instruction and "The Rotational Approach to Learning™" actually provide your child with long-term skills that will last a lifetime.
